How to Maximize Church Leadership Training

Leadership training is defined as a directed effort to hone the skills and talents of leaders and would-be leaders, allowing them chances to grow, learn and change. This is done in order for them to function effectively in the organization.

In this view, there is then a need to distinguish between education and training.  Education is focused on developing the individual’s growth alone. His/her involvement in the group may only be a by-product and not the end of his/her learning. Training, on the other hand, is focused on the need of the organization so that individuals are trained because there is a need for individuals to do certain tasks or jobs. The outcome is the main focus as well as the organization not the individual per se.
